Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Novara. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the Service only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
By using Novara, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and that any information you provide is accurate and complete.
User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create security risks, or are used fraudulently. You may close your account at any time by contacting support, subject to outstanding obligations and applicable law.
Reader Responsibilities
As a reader on Novara, you agree to:
- Use the Service lawfully and respect authors, other users, and platform rules
- Not attempt to bypass paywalls, copy-protections, or access controls without authorization
- Not scrape, harvest, or redistribute content except as expressly permitted
- Report infringing, abusive, or harmful content through available reporting tools or support channels
- Understand that previews, subscriptions, coins, and gifts may be governed by additional purchase terms
Author Responsibilities
Authors who publish on Novara are responsible for the content they upload, including accuracy of metadata, compliance with law, and respect for third-party rights. You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to publish your stories, covers, and related materials.
Authors must not publish content that is unlawful, deceptive, excessively violent in prohibited contexts, sexually exploitative, hateful, or otherwise in violation of our Community Guidelines. Novara may review, restrict, or remove content that violates these Terms.
User Generated Content
You retain ownership of original content you submit to Novara. By submitting content, you grant Novara a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and promote your content solely to operate, improve, and market the Service.
You are solely responsible for your content and the consequences of posting it. Novara does not endorse user content and is not obligated to monitor all submissions, but we reserve the right to remove or restrict content at our discretion.
Community Guidelines
Novara is built for creative reading and storytelling. Users must not:
- Harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse others
- Post spam, malware, or deceptive promotions
- Publish illegal content or content that infringes intellectual property rights
- Attempt to manipulate rankings, gifts, rewards, or monetization systems
- Use the Service for unauthorized commercial solicitation
Violations may result in content removal, feature restrictions, or account action.
Intellectual Property Rights
The Novara name, logos, software, design, and other platform materials are owned by Novara or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except as expressly allowed, you may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service.
Authors retain ownership of their original published works. Nothing in these Terms transfers author ownership to Novara.

Send DMCA notices to dmca@readnovara.ca or through our contact form with the subject "DMCA Notice."
Virtual Coins
Virtual coins are a limited, revocable license to access certain digital features within Novara, such as unlocking chapters or sending gifts. Coins are virtual currency with no cash value, are non-transferable outside the platform except where expressly permitted, and cannot be exchanged for real-world currency.
Coin balances, pricing, and eligible uses may change. Novara may modify or discontinue coin features with reasonable notice where practicable. Unused coins may expire or be forfeited upon account closure as described in our policies.
Subscription Plans
Premium subscriptions provide access to designated features or content for the period purchased. Unless stated otherwise at checkout, subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel.
You can manage or cancel your subscription through your account or by contacting billing support. Cancellation stops future renewals but generally does not retroactively refund the current billing period unless required by law or our Refund Policy.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing a subscription, you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms where relevant.
Gifts and Author Support
Readers may use virtual coins or other supported features to send gifts or support authors. Gifts are voluntary expressions of appreciation and are generally non-refundable once delivered, except where required by law or in cases of clear technical error.
Novara may facilitate author payouts subject to separate writer terms, tax requirements, and eligibility checks. We do not guarantee any minimum earnings for authors.
Refund Policy
Except where required by applicable law, all purchases of virtual coins, gifts, and digital access are final. Subscription refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis for billing errors, duplicate charges, or unauthorized transactions reported promptly.
To request billing assistance, contact support@readnovara.ca with your account email and transaction details.
Account Suspension
We may suspend access to your account, content, or monetization features if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk for Novara or other users, or are subject to legal process. When appropriate, we will notify you and provide an opportunity to appeal or remedy the issue.
During suspension, you may lose access to some or all features, including publishing, purchases, payouts, or library sync.
Account Termination
You may stop using Novara at any time. We may terminate or restrict your account for material breaches, repeated violations, fraud, or prolonged inactivity where permitted.
Upon termination, licenses granted to Novara for operational purposes may survive as needed to maintain backups, comply with law, and resolve disputes. Sections intended to survive termination will remain in effect.
Disclaimer of Warranties

Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NOVARA AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO NOVARA IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY CANADIAN DOLLARS (CAD $50), EXCEPT WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page and revise the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
If you do not agree to updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
